This image is a watercolor botanical illustration of a Clematis �Cezanne.�
As a botanical illustrator, I strive for realistic, detailed, and accurate paintings. I also want to create something bright and colorful. I spent several hours searching through two different garden stores before I chose the Clematis plant for this painting. Then I proceeded to sketch the potted plant, several plants at the Denver Botanic Garden, and even picked up a few details from plants across a neighbors fence!
