This fine example of botanical art is a wild squash, also called "Buffalo Gourd." It is common to the southwest dry areas and was sketched on location at the Denver Botanic Gardens in Colorado. It grows wild in many locations and the squash is edible.
My name is Karla Beatty. I am a painter and an illustrator for books, magazines, and the internet. My work covers a wide range of topics: landscapes, portraits, gardens, botanicals, travel, urban sketching, and more.
