Artist's Description
This is a watercolor painting called "Before the Storm." There's always a "hush" just before a storm hits, as if nature knows it is soon to be covered in snow. Birds and animals at a marsh or in a field rush to feed and prepare. In "Before the Storm," blue spruce, pine trees, and distant winter trees are misty in the cold winter atmosphere. Low foothills below the Rocky mountains in Colorado can be seen stretching off in the distance.
About Karla Beatty
My name is Karla Beatty. I am a painter and an illustrator for books, magazines, and the internet. My work covers a wide range of topics: landscapes, portraits, gardens, botanicals, travel, urban sketching, and more. Most of my work is in oils, acrylics, watercolors, graphite, carbon dust, and digital images. Much of my art is connected to travel adventures and experiences. A good portion of my paintings are created on location or plein air. Some of my work is from photographs where I paint, draw, sculpt, and spend way more hours than I intend to on the computer making digital art. All images ©2000-2015 Karla Beatty. All rights reserved.
