Artist's Description
This is a watercolor painting called "Burma Monastery." It is a travel sketch, done on location, of a Buddhist monk walking outside of the entrance to his monastery in Myanmar (Burma). This plein air painting is part of my urban sketching series of cities and scenes throughout Southeast Asia and the world. I was pretty far along with this painting when, unfortunately, it started to rain! Orange robed monks are so colorful.
About Karla Beatty
My name is Karla Beatty. I am a painter and an illustrator for books, magazines, and the internet. My work covers a wide range of topics: landscapes, portraits, gardens, botanicals, travel, urban sketching, and more. Most of my work is in oils, acrylics, watercolors, graphite, carbon dust, and digital images. Much of my art is connected to travel adventures and experiences. A good portion of my paintings are created on location or plein air. Some of my work is from photographs where I paint, draw, sculpt, and spend way more hours than I intend to on the computer making digital art. All images ©2000-2015 Karla Beatty. All rights reserved.
