This is a botanical watercolor painting of Tulip Bulbs. It is painted in the dry brush botanical illustration style, using small brushes and fairly dry watercolor paints. A good friend brought me the tulip bulbs because she knew I would love them. And so I painted these bulbs with love and I think I captured what I perceived to be their glory. Thanks, Susan, for being an inspiration!
My name is Karla Beatty. I am a painter and an illustrator for books, magazines, and the internet. My work covers a wide range of topics: landscapes, portraits, gardens, botanicals, travel, urban sketching, and more. Most of my work is in oils, acrylics, watercolors, graphite, carbon dust, and digital images. Much of my art is connected to travel adventures and experiences. A good portion of my paintings are created on location or plein air. Some of my work is from photographs where I paint, draw, sculpt, and spend way more hours than I intend to on the computer making digital art. All images ©2000-2015 Karla Beatty. All rights reserved.
