This is a transformed photo art called "Tibetan Women Waiting for the Karmappa Lama." It is a travel photo taken in India, near Dharamsala the residence in exile of the Dalai Lama. This is at the compound of the Karmappa lama, a young man much beloved by Tibetans. The photo is digitized and transformed into a unique kind of digital art. Travel in Asia always inspires me to create new artwork from the vivid images I experience while traveling. This digital art gives the appearance of being a photo and drawing at once, as if the women are rising up from the drawing board. This version is with a grey "drawing" background.
My name is Karla Beatty. I am a painter and an illustrator for books, magazines, and the internet. My work covers a wide range of topics: landscapes, portraits, gardens, botanicals, travel, urban sketching, and more. Most of my work is in oils, acrylics, watercolors, graphite, carbon dust, and digital images. Much of my art is connected to travel adventures and experiences. A good portion of my paintings are created on location or plein air. Some of my work is from photographs where I paint, draw, sculpt, and spend way more hours than I intend to on the computer making digital art. All images ©2000-2015 Karla Beatty. All rights reserved.
