This is an oil painting called "Tibetan Refugee Dharamsala." India is a land of colorful places and even more colorful people. I saw this fellow in Dharamsala, the home in exile of the Dalai Lama. There are many Tibetan refugees there. He was quite friendly and though we had no language in common, he was glad to have his photo taken. I painted the portrait later. Cows, goats, sheep--all hang out in the streets!
My name is Karla Beatty. I am a painter and an illustrator for books, magazines, and the internet. My work covers a wide range of topics: landscapes, portraits, gardens, botanicals, travel, urban sketching, and more. Most of my work is in oils, acrylics, watercolors, graphite, carbon dust, and digital images. Much of my art is connected to travel adventures and experiences. A good portion of my paintings are created on location or plein air. Some of my work is from photographs where I paint, draw, sculpt, and spend way more hours than I intend to on the computer making digital art. All images ©2000-2015 Karla Beatty. All rights reserved.
