This is a watercolor sketch called "Farmer's Market at Cherry Creek." It was painted on location at the Cherry Creek Farmer's Market in Denver, Colorado. It was a really hot and sunny day. I started off sitting in the shade, but the sun quickly moved over me. I was sweating, over-heated, and THEN a huge fuzzy husky dog came and sat on my foot for a while. Sweet painting session!
My name is Karla Beatty. I am a painter and an illustrator for books, magazines, and the internet. My work covers a wide range of topics: landscapes, portraits, gardens, botanicals, travel, urban sketching, and more. Most of my work is in oils, acrylics, watercolors, graphite, carbon dust, and digital images. Much of my art is connected to travel adventures and experiences. A good portion of my paintings are created on location or plein air. Some of my work is from photographs where I paint, draw, sculpt, and spend way more hours than I intend to on the computer making digital art. All images ©2000-2015 Karla Beatty. All rights reserved.
